After losing her cherished Labrador retriever to pancreatitis, Shellie decided to bring Riley, a beautiful yellow Lab, into her life.
In mid-July, during the hot, humid season in White County, Arkansas, 14 RedRover Responders volunteers assisted the Humane Society of the United States in the rescue and emergency sheltering of 96 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. Many dogs on-site were found chained to trees and decrepit vehicles, while inside the home, cats and dogs lived in heartbreakingly miserable conditions.
Last week marked the anniversary of a lifesaving event that RedRover Responders volunteers will never forget. One year ago, nearly 300 pit bulls and pit bull mixes were living in cruel, neglectful conditions.
We all work hard to give our pets the best lives possible. We give them great food, fun toys, loads of attention, and try to keep them safe from harm. However, keeping them safe isn't always easy as we’d like. Whether it's darting out the front door or eating something that they shouldn't, our pets can be great at getting into trouble.
