Helping 25% of domestic violence shelters become pet friendly by 2025

Join the Pet-Friendly Movement

Every year, more than 10 million people in the United States are physically abused by an intimate partner, and this abuse affects pets, too.

Domestic violence shelters provide a safe and secure place to recover from trauma, but many do not allow pets. RedRover, in partnership with PetSmart Charities and Greater Good Charities, and with support from Purina, is committed to change that.

Keeping Survivors and Their Pets Together

The campaign is working to increase the number of shelters that can take in both survivors and their pets once they've escaped abuse. We’re doing this by advocating for pet-friendly policies, distributing grants, and providing technical and one-on-one support.

Explore ways to create and sustain pet-friendly housing programs through free trainings hosted by RedRover and Greater Good Charities’ Rescue Rebuild program.

Take the Pet-Friendly Pledge

The 25 by 2025 Pet-Friendly Pledge is a commitment to keep pets and people together.

There’s a place for everyone in our movement. Whether you are a domestic violence shelter committing to be pet friendly by 2025, a shelter that is already pet friendly, or an advocate for our mission, take the pledge today and claim your badge. Once you receive your badge, display it proudly everywhere!

Get the 25 by 2025 Toolkit

The 25 by 2025 toolkit is for advocates to raise awareness and support our goal of helping 25% of domestic violence shelters accommodate pets by 2025.

The toolkit encompasses a wide range of resources, including social media graphics, email templates for local officials, Letters to the Editor, and sample newsletters – all of which can be downloaded individually or as a whole.

We strongly encourage you to share the toolkit and tag us in your posts!
