Do you remember the winter of 1997? It was marked by a record breaking El Nino event. Severe weather resulted in flooding in California and in the Southeast, an ice storm in the northeast and tornadoes in Florida. This year, the winter forecast predicts an even stronger El Nino event. Are you ready?

According to the National Hurricane Center, a hurricane watch is in effect from Grand Isle, Louisiana, east to Indian Pass, Florida, after Tropical Storm Karen formed in the Gulf of Mexico. Forecasters expect Tropical Storm Karen to be at or near hurricane-strength on Friday; the center of the storm is expected to arrive on Saturday.
As the rising flood waters have devastated the town of Boulder, Colorado, and surrounding areas, RedRover Emergency Services Manager Beth Gammie has been reaching out to offer RedRover Responders' support to Colorado animal agencies such as PetAid Colorado, Humane Society of Boulder, the Larimer Humane Society and other Colorado rescues and shelters.
