RedRover Relief seeks to help dog who suffers from severe motor oil burns

RedRover has received a RedRover Relief grant application for a dog in Iredell County, North Carolina that had hot motor oil poured over her body and now has severe burns as a result.  Cayley, a wirey mixed-breed dog, was surrendered to the  Iredell County Animal shelter with severe burns from her ears to the base of her tail, where it was discovered that her owner had poured hot motor oil over her skin to try and eradicate a mange problem.

Happy Ending: Dixie

Bianca adopted Dixie 12 years ago and they have been best friends ever since. When Dixie began showing signs of distress, Bianca took her to the veterinarian where it was discovered that Dixie had multiple large bladder stones. These stones were causing Dixie extreme pain and needed to be surgically removed.

Happy Ending: Tippy

When Christina adopted Tippy, a small tan-and-white Chihuahua mix from a local animal shelter, the shelter staff told her that Tippy was diagnosed with heartworm. Christina’s family was prepared to take on the expense of treatment that the shelter dog needed, but Tippy went downhill fast and needed costly emergency veterinary treatment.

However, keeping them safe isn't always easy as we’d like. Whether it's darting out the front door or eating something that they shouldn't, our pets can be great at getting into trouble.
