A week apart: from workshop to deployment

Newly trained volunteers often ask, “How long will it be before I receive a deployment request?” Well, for six newly trained volunteers, the answer was: five days! On July 12, RedRover held a training workshop in Kennesaw, Georgia, and then just five days later, we received a deployment request from officials in Cherokee County, one county over from the workshop location. Six of the volunteers who had attended the workshop signed up to help.

VIDEO: RedRover Responders and the Forest Animal Rescue relocation

In January 2013, RedRover Responders volunteers deployed the Silver Springs area in Florida at the request of the Forest Animal Rescue by Peace River Refuge & Ranch to help with the relocation of over 130 animals from the wildlife sanctuary. Beginning Monday morning, as the deadly tornadoes struck the regions of the South and Midwest including Arkansas, Oklahoma and Iowa, RedRover Emergency Services Manager Beth Gammie has been reaching out to offer RedRover Responders' support to our partners and animal shelters in the area.

RedRover Responders volunteers deployed to Arkansas, to assist The Humane Society of the United States in caring for over 180 animals found living in neglectful conditions on a Jefferson County property.
