It’s easy to remember to prepare for ourselves in case of an emergency, but what about our pets? Join RedRover in celebrating Pet Preparedness Month by setting aside emergency items that are often overlooked by pet owners.

From Northern California flood response, 1997
I guess I’d grown cynical. Over the years the wrong presidential candidates were elected, vicious crime seemed to dominate the news of the nation, and in my own neighborhood a depraved cat torturer was on the loose. I wasn’t always an enthusiastic booster of the human race. Until Saturday, January 4, 1997.
In April 2016, our RedRover Responders team deployed to Core Creek, Pennsylvania, to assist with a large-scale Trap-Treat-Neuter-Place/Return program for hundreds of community cats. RedRover Director of Field Services, Beth Gammie, wrote about the experience of using collaboration to create a solution for a seemingly impossible situation.

Andy Bass took the RedRover Responders volunteer training 21 years ago. His first deployment with RedRover (then UAN) was 8 years later for Hurricane Charley in Bartow, FL. Here, he shares an article he wrote about his experience in 2004, followed by his reflections today.

In November, my colleague Rachel and I had the privilege of working alongside our amazing RedRover Responders volunteers on a special collaboration to help domestic violence victims and their pets in Longview, Washington.
Working together with Rescue Rebuild, our task was to transform three rooms at Emergency Support Shelter (ESS) into pet-friendly, co-sheltering spaces.
