RedRover Responders volunteers are being deployed to provide emergency sheltering for animals displaced by the fires in Northern California. Here is a list of currently available emergency animal shelters and resources in both California and Canada.
This manual provides guidance on how to humanely solve cat overpopulation sites by bringing all affected parties together to develop a plan to reduce overpopulation through a combination of TNR and placement. It includes strategies, operations guidance, useful forms and other resources.

I did the RedRover Responders training in Illinois in 1994, and very shortly afterwards the flood hit in Liberty, Texas. Oddly enough, I had a plane ticket to Texas because I was going on a long weekend vacation - but instead of going on vacation, I deployed to the disaster. The memories are as vivid as ever:
