Sarge is a service dog who provides emotional and physical support to Joshua, a disabled veteran who served in Afghanistan. When an accident left Sarge’s tail badly injured and in need of surgery, Sarge was now the one in need of support.Â
Gargamel, a two-year-old American bulldog, is one of several dogs who were recently rescued from an unlicensed kennel in Placerville, California. Gargamel had been living in unsanitary conditions for several months. He weighed only 65 pounds, half the weight for a healthy dog his age.

RedRover Responders volunteers experienced the power of this gift after helping to care for hundreds of dogs rescued from a massive dogfighting ring last week.
At a temporary shelter in the southeastern United States, hundreds of dogs are receiving loving care and medical attention, perhaps for the first time in their lives, after their rescue from the second largest criminal dogfighting ring in the history of the United States.
Such a high-profile criminal case requires extreme discretion by everyone involved, including the seven RedRover Responders volunteers who were asked to deploy to the temporary shelter managed by the ASPCA.
As the rising flood waters have devastated the town of Boulder, Colorado, and surrounding areas, RedRover Emergency Services Manager Beth Gammie has been reaching out to offer RedRover Responders' support to Colorado animal agencies such as PetAid Colorado, Humane Society of Boulder, the Larimer Humane Society and other Colorado rescues and shelters. Â
367 dogs rescued from the second-largest dogfighting ring bust in United States history are getting the TLC they deserve, and our RedRover Responders volunteers will be deploying at the end of the month to assist the ASPCA in their ongoing care.Â
