What happens when a child’s early impressions of animals are primarily stories of animals talking and wearing clothes? Recent research suggests books with anthropomorphized animal characters “lead to less learning and influence childrens’ conceptual knowledge about animals.”

A genuine desire to make a difference can make all the difference for animals in crisis

RedRover is able to bring animals out of crisis and into care through our network of RedRover Responders volunteers available on a moment’s notice to deploy. One of those volunteers is Paula Redinger who first deployed with us in 2003 to help the animal victims of the Southern California fires.

A new start for 180+ animals rescued in Arkansas

“This is their last night there.”

These were the words of Emergency Services Manager, Beth Gammie, the night before over 180 animals were seized from a suspected puppy mill in Jefferson County, Arkansas. Last week, RedRover assisted the Humane Society of the United States and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office along with various other volunteer groups in the rescue and care of the 121 dogs, 11 exotic birds, 19 chickens, 20 horses and multiple cats, rabbits and turtles that were removed from the Jefferson County property.

Fire survivor: Koal gets help from an On-Call Angel

When Julia went to the gym one day and left her dog, Koal, at home, she never imagined that he could be in any danger. Koal, a 12-year-old pit bull, was a very special dog who helped educate people on ending breed discrimination.
