Despite her hard start in life, one-year-old dog Pepper’s luck seemed to change when her future owner, Miranda, drove 26 hours to rescue her from a euthanasia list. After traveling across three states, the two arrived home, but Miranda quickly discovered that Pepper had more extensive medical concerns than the shelter had realized. Not only had her wounds become infected, requiring another surgery, but she had also tested positive for heartworms. Her extensive medical care was going to be costly, and after her long journey to adopt Pepper, Miranda needed some support to pay for her care.
Miranda applied for a RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant, and soon learned that Pepper’s treatment would be funded by the RedRover On-Call Angel program. When Pepper returned home from her surgery, she was welcomed not only by Miranda but also with much excitement from her new siblings – five dogs and two cats!
Thank you for keeping pets like Pepper with the people who love them!
