Sacramento, California (March 18, 2024) – RedRover®’s Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the organization’s next President and CEO, Catherine “Katie” Campbell! She begins this position on March 18. In her role as President and CEO, Campbell will help further RedRover’s mission to bring animals from crisis to care and to strengthen the human-animal bond.
Campbell brings a wealth of nonprofit experience to this role. She has worked in the nonprofit sector for more than 16 years, in roles ranging from direct service to leadership, with a wide range of communities, including families with young children, medical students, and LGBTQ+. Prior to RedRover, Campbell was the Director of Programs at the Sacramento LGBT Community Center. Before that she served as a Community Liaison at the University of California, Davis Health Care System where she led the Family Medicine Department’s internal education efforts.
She has spent the last eight years at RedRover, most recently serving as Director of Collaboration and Outreach. In that role, she supported all of the outreach, awareness, and capacity-building efforts, especially for their domestic violence assistance programs, RedRover’s fastest growing program.
Campbell said, “I am so excited to help lead and drive RedRover’s work forward. We’ve come such a long way in the last 37 years and I’m committed to our efforts to keep more people and their pets together, and create a more compassionate and empathetic world.”
Campbell is a firm believer that more can be accomplished when organizations work together, and with the community, rather than in silos.
Since joining RedRover, Campbell has played a key role in developing and maintaining several key partnerships and relationships with Purina (Purple Leash Project), PetSmart Charities, Adtalem Global Education Foundation, Greater Good Charities, and DomesticShelters.org. At RedRover she created and spearheaded the Don’t Forget the Pets (DFTP) collaborative project with Greater Good Charities’ Rescue Rebuild program. The project brings together animal welfare, human services, and the veterinary community who want to create and/or support pet housing programs for the pets of people in crisis. Additionally, she has served as a media spokesperson and has given dozens of presentations to audiences large and small, virtually and in-person, and has served as a RedRover Responders Team Leader on 24 deployments!
“We are thrilled to welcome Katie Campbell as our new President and CEO,” said Jenny Coupe, Board Director Chair. “Her commitment to RedRover over the past 8 years and passion for the community is invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth and development.”
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Lees- McRae College, and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University, Sacramento.
Campbell is taking over for Karly Noel and Susan Robert, who have been serving as Interim President and CEO, respectively, since the previous President and CEO Nicole Forsyth left RedRover last July.
“I am a lifelong animal lover and advocate of the human-animal bond – two things that have continued to grow since I joined the RedRover team,” said Campbell. “I am so proud of our incredible team and our work so far, and I am thrilled to lead RedRover into its next chapter.”
