We’re on a mission to #SpreadKindNews in 2026, and there is nothing like an upcoming school year to get us even more excited about inspiring kindness to animals in young people.
We think that kindness can start with Kind News, RedRover’s children’s magazine that inspires kids to be kind to animals and people. This year, we’ve launched an initiative to bring the magazine to 30,000 more children. We’re proud to report that we’ve already raised over $12,000 due to the generosity of our supporters – allowing us to send a whopping 5,600 children back to school with the magazine in their hands.
We also want to ensure that every educator who could use this resource knows about it – and receives the magazine! To that end, we launched our Nominate-an-Educator form, which allows people to nominate educators they know to receive the magazine, as well as educators to nominate themselves.
Since we began accepting nominations, we’ve heard from almost 200 teachers and humane educators across the country who are really enthusiastic about getting this resource for the kids they know and work with. Then they tell their educator friends, who tell their educator friends…helping kindness spread and bloom throughout the country.
Bridget, board member of a rescue in New Mexico, noted in her nomination entry, “We live along the border of Mexico. Our rescue is trying to do more spay/neuters and education. We have a huge problem with our shelter being overcrowded. . .we feel like we could help by starting to educate the younger children in our district.”
When we told her we’d love to help, Bridget connected with her school district, which will welcome the magazine into 174 classrooms this fall – a whopping 4,872 children!
“Thank you for making this possible,” she wrote. “Working together to make small differences that will add up!”
Eileen, a humane educator in St. Croix, relayed a similar predicament: “…we have a huge problem with overpopulation….any educational materials given to these kids will be crucial…we can change the culture!” Starting in September, we’ll be bringing the magazine to more than 80 children in her area, and we’re thrilled to see what they think of it.
After receiving the magazine in her third-grade classroom, Karen I. in Agawam, Massachusetts, thought she’d spread even more kindness and nominated her colleague to receive the magazine too. “My students are always happy when the next issue of Kind News arrives!”, she wrote. “They love animals and enjoy hearing about how other students find ways to help them. Kind News simply provides reading material that students want to read.”
We’re honored and grateful to be able to help these dedicated educators encourage empathy for animals in the children they work with.
