July Clinic in Vermont Serves More Than 400 Pets

Summer in Vermont is something we locals look forward to all year long. When you’ve lived through at least six seasons to get to the sunshine (including the now-infamous stick season, mud season, second, and third (!) winters, and the “spring of deception”), by the time July rolls around, we are more than ready for warmth! This July also brought something exciting beyond just the sun: our second free wellness clinic – and the most perfect bluebird skies – with our friends at the Mobile Pet Food Shelf to support pets and their people in accessing veterinary care.

Over two days, hundreds of families waited patiently in line for hours to receive free vaccines, including rabies, DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus) for dogs, and FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FHV-1), Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia) for cats, flea/tick prevention, and pet food, toys, and supplies. At our first event in 2025, there was an overwhelming response, and this year was no different! We treated pets with every single one of our 800 vaccines and still didn’t have enough for everyone who came. This need truly highlights the importance of these clinics and how important it is to families to vaccinate their animals. Each year gives us more information on what the local community needs, and we plan to be back in 2027 offering even more services.

This year we were thrilled to partner with locally owned Shelburne Veterinary Hospital, whose veterinarian and veterinary technicians volunteered for both days handling, restraining, and vaccinating each and every animal. We couldn’t have done it without their commitment to collaboration and to their community, and we are grateful to partner with such wonderful local folks!
