Since its inception in 2021, our Community Programs work has been community-centered and community-driven. As a national program working throughout the country, our goal is to support local partners who are already doing the work on the ground. They know what their unique community needs are, and through funding and our RedRover Responders volunteers, we work to collaborate in offering programs and services that keep pets and people together and prioritize the human-animal bond.
In 2023 we began a partnership with Paws of Northeast Louisiana, a non-profit organization started by local residents. Focusing on spay/neuter funding, humane education, animal rescue, and more, Paws NE LA has become a community staple for resources. Offering twice a year wellness clinics, together we provide life-saving vaccines, flea and tick prevention, pet food and supplies, pet ID tags, spay/neuter vouchers, and even behavior support.
In the past year the West Monroe, Louisiana community has shown us that the need is greater. Beloved pets coming to our clinics have presented with medical needs beyond our drive-through services. Fortunately, thanks to an incredibly generous grant from the Adtalem Global Education Foundation, families no longer had to worry about how they would provide vital veterinary care – what a wonderful gift! Through this additional funding, RedRover has been able to provide life-saving services without hesitation. In 2024 Adtalem funded heartworm treatment, treated severe skin infections, dislocated knee surgery, and even compassionate and humane end-of-life care – all for family pets we met at the clinics.
As we embark on a new year continuing our Community Programs work, we look forward to continuing to focus on community-led needs via our collaborative effort!
