The Big Day of Giving on May 3: Building stronger community and a kinder society

RedRover believes communities are stronger when people and organizations work together to improve the quality of life for both people and animals.
As a national nonprofit based in Sacramento, we proudly collaborate with local organizations throughout the year and participate in the Sacramento region’s Big Day of Giving event, this year on May 3, 2018. This one day of philanthropy elevates awareness about the work of hundreds of not-for-profit organizations and motivates generous giving.
Over the past few years this event has raised more than $23 million for local nonprofits. Participating in “BigDog” also helps us connect with more individuals, nonprofits, schools and businesses in the greater Sacramento area who share our goals of helping animals and people in crisis and fostering a kinder and more compassionate society.
Support on the Big Day of Giving funds RedRover’s three main programs locally and helps us increase outreach efforts to better:
- ensure more children have access to our RedRover Readers program that works to develop empathy skills;
- provide Sacramento area residents access to resources and financial assistance that enable domestic violence survivors escape their abusive situation with their animals;
- help low-income individuals pay for emergency veterinary care; and
- train more RedRover Responders volunteers in Northern California and provide emergency sheltering to animals during natural disasters or cruelty cases if they occur locally, as well as within the United States and Canada.
At RedRover, we know that pets are family. Your donations in advance and on May 3rd will help us bring more animals from crisis to care and help keep more families together.
