By Devon Krusko, Director of Community Programs –
Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week! During the week of April 19, we honor and thank our incredible volunteers who gave more than 3,000 (!!!) hours of their time to our RedRover Responders deployments in 2025. That’s the equivalent of one and a half RedRover staff! 🙀 Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Volunteers traveled across the country to support pets and their families, provided animal care for pets in crisis, and assisted with a variety of different programs, projects, and tasks – all with the desire to truly make a difference in local communities. With a full-time RedRover Responders dedicated staff of just two people (we’re a small, but mighty team at this organization!), volunteers are the backbone of our program and we quite literally could not do our work without their commitment.
Our amazing volunteers are flexible, adaptable, and always show up on the ground with teamwork in mind and an approachable, friendly warmth that the RedRover team has become known for.
Offering many unique volunteer opportunities, RedRover Responders volunteers may find themselves building fencing for outdoor family dogs, learning how to assist in animal recovery post spay/neuter surgery, working to humanely trap and treat community cats for Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR), pouring cement for a sidewalk at a domestic violence shelter that is becoming pet friendly, feeding and cleaning and socializing animals during disasters and cruelty/neglect cases, or helping prepare vaccines at a free pet wellness clinic.
Above all the skills our volunteers learn and practice on the ground with us at RedRover, compassionate collaboration is the most important. Together, we are truly making a difference for people and pets in need!
