This Earth Day, the RedRover staff took a moment to reflect on how we celebrate Earth every day. Here are some of our favorite ways to respect, protect and connect with Earth:
1. Spending time outdoors with an animal friend
“One of my favorite things to do is run along the American River trail with our pup – especially in the evening or at night when a lot of wildlife come out.”
“My favorite part of the day is always walking my dog through our neighborhood and the local parks. Being in nature helps me relax after a stressful day.”
“My favorite place to walk the dogs is along the American River near my house. It’s the perfect place to appreciate and connect with everything around me.”
2. Simply being in nature
“Listening for birds and soaking up everything around me helps me get out of my own head and re-charge.”
“Being in nature helps me relax after a stressful day.”
“When I take time to stop and BE in nature. Lying on a rock in the sunshine, hiking up mountains, sitting in a hot spring and running on trails are some of my favorite ways to feel more connected to myself and the world around me, and actively honor and appreciate our beautiful Earth.”
3. Keeping Earth clean
“I’m often the person you’ll see running along the trail with trash in my hand… I know it’s a small thing, but we get so much – peace, calm, connection to nature – I can’t imagine not doing my part.”
4. Conscious consumption
“I feel connected with Earth when I buy clean, whole foods from the local Farmer’s Market.” “I respect/protect the earth every day by being vegan.” “I try to use my reusable water bottle instead of buying water bottles.”
Feel free to tell us in the comments your favorite ways of celebrating Earth today and every day!
