A message from Beth Gammie, RedRover Emergency Services Manager, on the ground in South Carolina
Dear animal supporter,
Imagine that the only home you’ve ever known is quickly filling up with water, and you and your pets are trapped inside. The first story floods. You rush your family and your pets upstairs…all the way to the roof…to avoid the rising water that you so instinctively fear.
This is the reality for a family and their cats from a South Carolina home, devastated by the recent floods and scared for their lives.
As I write to you today from Georgetown County in South Carolina, I’m surrounded by devastation. Water fills the streets, roads and bridges are closed, and some families lost everything – including their beloved pets.
But, thanks to supporters like you, rescuers were able to save the cats from the rising floodwaters (and the roof!), and our RedRover Responders volunteers are caring for them here at the emergency shelter.
These cats and other rescued animals are receiving food, water, clean living quarters, and most of all, comfort and safety from theses volunteers on the ground. We’re here at the request of NARSC (National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition) to help in a collaborative effort to help as many animals affected by the disaster as possible. Our timely arrival to help these animals wouldn’t have been possible without your support.
Thank you for helping these cats, dogs and other rescued animals finally find safety from the flood.
With gratitude,
Beth Gammie
Emergency Services Manager
