Karly Noel, RedRover Education Manager, tells us a little bit about herself, her furry friends, and why she loves working at RedRover!
Q. Do you have any furry family members?
I do! I have an 18-legged family right now! I have a lilac point Siamese cat named Luna and a tortoiseshell cat named Mia who could not be more yin-and-yang opposite from each other, and a rambunctious Chihuahua terrier-mix named Louie.
Q. Does Louie have any hobbies or special tricks?
Louie is learning tons of new tricks every day. He can open doors to get to the cats’ food. He can chase his tail going one direction, get dizzy and then chase his tail the other direction and walk away straight. His current hobby is chewing on his toys and showing them who’s boss. He is learning to hold a treat on his nose for a few seconds before eating it and a few basic, but extremely impressive tricks for his outgoing personality: walking on the leash without jumping to meet people, learning to “stay” and not eating everything in sight just because something will fit in his mouth.
Q. If you could meet any famous movie/book animal character, who would you meet?
The Cheshire Cat from “Alice in Wonderland.” We could have the best conversations! I love this one from the movie:
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” said Alice.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where –” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“– so long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
Q. What song best describes your work ethic?
The chorus of Matthew Wilder’s “Break My Stride.” Ain’t nothing gonna break my stride, ain’t nothing gonna slow me down. Oh no, I got to keep on movin’! Or maybe Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
Q. What other things do you like to do outside the office?
I love camping, hiking and spending time with my family and friends.
Q. What is your favorite thing about working at RedRover?
It is hard to choose just one thing. Feeling like I make a difference is a huge factor. I love that I get to blend my three passions – children, education and animals – into the work I do, that the office culture is amazing and that we get to bring our animals to work with us.
