Volunteers and Grant Ensure Access to Needed Services for Hundreds of Pets
Midland and Odessa, Texas (June 10, 2022) – This weekend RedRover is on the ground helping Fix West Texas in two drive-through no-cost/low-cost pet wellness clinics in the communities of Odessa (Saturday, June 11) and Midland, Texas (Sunday, June 12).
In under-resourced communities, limited access to adequate pet care can not only lead to preventable health issues, but heartbreak for families. Thanks to this partnership, hundreds of pets in Midland and Odessa communities will get the preventative care, food, and supplies they need to live healthy, happy lives.
RedRover will deploy six RedRover Responders trained volunteers to assist Fix West Texas with the intake, registration, and distribution of pet supplies. In addition to providing volunteers, RedRover is committed to covering the cost of vaccinations for roughly 600 pets, which includes the Bordetella, rabies, and distemper/parvo vaccines.
The need for pet vaccines is undeniable both for the health and wellbeing of animals and for communities with limited resources. Pet vaccines:
- Protect against life-threatening disease
- Prevent diseases that can be passed between animals, as well as those from animals to people
- Can help avoid costly treatments for preventable diseases
- Are often required by law
RedRover President and CEO Nicole Forsyth said, “RedRover is proud to join Fix West Texas in providing funds and volunteers to help the Midland and Odessa communities address pet health and safety. We recognize not all families in a community have equal access to veterinary care, and we are on the ground helping to address some of these gaps to ensure pets get the services they need to have a happy and healthy life with their people.”
