Naples Deployment Will Bring Assistance to Animals and Relief to Workers
Naples, FL – RedRover, a national nonprofit animal welfare organization, is on the ground in Naples, Florida, to help Collier County Domestic Animal Services provide daily care and comfort for 140 animals displaced by Hurricane Irma. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) asked RedRover to provide additional support at the shelter during this emergency.
RedRover will deploy a team of RedRover Responders volunteers, led by a RedRover Responders Team Leader, to help The HSUS care for these animals. The volunteers are travelling from as far away as North Carolina, Tennessee and Pennsylvania to assist during this statewide crisis.
“RedRover Responders are eager to provide care and comfort to the animals at this shelter, and provide some respite for all the people working around the clock here,” said RedRover Director of Field Services, Beth Gammie.
Distinguished by their red shirts, RedRover Responders volunteers are specially trained to care for and shelter large numbers of animals after they have been rescued from natural disasters. Our volunteers provide the workforce which enables local communities to address their animal needs following a natural disaster.
With more than 3,800 trained volunteers in the United States and Canada, RedRover can deploy its volunteers quickly when communities become overburdened by a crisis involving large numbers of animals. In its 30-year history, RedRover has responded to more than 186 natural disasters and other crises, including Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Charley and many more.
