Deployment Will Bring Assistance to Animals and Relief to Workers
Oroville, CA – RedRover, a national nonprofit animal welfare organization, will provide daily care for animals who are displaced by the Wall Fire in Butte County, and are now residing at a temporary shelter located in Oroville. RedRover was asked by North Valley Animal Disaster Group to provide support during this emergency.
Over the next two days, RedRover will deploy RedRover Responders volunteers to the shelter to help care for these animals.
“RedRover Responders are thankful for the opportunity to help comfort and care for these animals and bring some relief to the tireless aid teams during this crisis,” RedRover Director of Field Services, Beth Gammie.
Distinguished by their red shirts, RedRover Responders volunteers are specially trained to care for and shelter large numbers of animals after they have been rescued from natural disasters. Our volunteers provide the workforce which enables local communities to address their animal needs following a natural disaster.
With more than 3,800 trained volunteers in the United States and Canada, RedRover can deploy its volunteers quickly when communities become overburdened by a crisis involving large numbers of animals. In its 30-year history, RedRover has responded to more than 180 natural disasters and other emergencies, including the recent dam crisis in Oroville, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005; Hurricane Isaac and Superstorm Sandy in 2012; the Oklahoma tornadoes in 2013; flooding in Gonzales, LA in 2016 and many more.
