RedRover at Carr Fire Helping NVADG Care for Hundreds of Animals
Sacramento, CA – RedRover, a national nonprofit animal welfare organization, is on the ground TODAY, August 1- 7 to help North Valley Animal Disaster Group (NVADG) provide daily care and comfort for up to 300 animals displaced by the Carr fire.
RedRover will send 12 RedRover Responders volunteers to help NVADG care for dogs and cats at the temporary shelter in Anderson, CA over the next seven days. The RedRover Responders volunteers are traveling from across Northern California to assist during this crisis.
“Our hearts go out to the communities devastated by the massive Carr fire, “said RedRover Director of Field Services, Beth Gammie. “RedRover Responders are committed to providing comfort to these poor animals during this time of crisis and respite for the tireless NVADG workers and other volunteers.”
Distinguished by their red shirts, RedRover Responders volunteers are specially trained to care for and shelter large numbers of animals after they have been rescued from natural disasters or cruelty and neglect cases. The volunteers provide the workforce which enables communities to address their animal needs swiftly and efficiently.
With more than 4,000 trained volunteers in the United States and Canada, RedRover can deploy its volunteers quickly when communities become overburdened by a crisis involving large numbers of animals. In its 31-year history, RedRover has responded to 188 natural disasters and other crises around the country including Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Katrina, the Oroville Dam crisis, the Butte County Wall Fire and many more.
Haven Humane Society has set up and is operating the temporary emergency animal shelter at Shasta Gateway Outlets, 1699 Highway 273, Anderson, CA (next to the Grocery Outlet and Mary’s Pizza).
