Learn How To Create a Pet Housing Program at Your Shelter

Sacramento, California (June 17, 2025) – RedRover® is proud to announce that helping shelters build pet friendly programs just became easier! The Housing People and Pets in Crisis workshop, courtesy of Don’t Forget the Pets, a joint project with Greater Good Charities, is now available through an online learning portal.

This FREE, self-paced course is designed for professionals in domestic violence (DV) advocacy, homeless services, and animal welfare, and is also valuable for veterinary providers, law enforcement, and other related sectors.

Through engaging, go-at-your-own-pace modules, learners will:

  • Examine the physical and psychological effects of the human-animal bond.
  • Review different pet housing strategies and learn how to successfully implement them.
  • Understand how strategic partnerships can strengthen and sustain pet housing programs.
  • Draft policies, procedures, and documents that support effective program operations.
  • Design safe and functional shelter spaces that accommodate pets and support their care.
  • Explore grant funding opportunities and innovative fundraising strategies.

“It was a great learning experience and I’m excited to share new ideas with my team to improve and expand our pet program.”
