RedRover recognizes College Village Animal Clinic as exceptional veterinary partner

Sacramento, CA (January 13, 2015) – The College Village Animal Clinic in Anchorage, Alaska, has been awarded RedRover’s Outstanding Veterinary Clinic Award for their exceptional work helping animals in 2014. The award recognizes the work of a veterinary clinic that has provided outstanding services for animals in crisis. This is the third time RedRover has issued the esteemed award.

RedRover presented the award to College Village Animal Clinic for helping animals like Bear, a beloved family dog who needed emergency surgery to survive. Bear ingested a piece of trash that resulted in an intestinal blockage and the original veterinary office quoted the family $4,000 to save Bear’s life. Bear’s family couldn’t afford the expensive surgery, and reached out to RedRover for help. RedRover Relief case managers contacted College Village Animal Clinic, and once they heard Bear’s story, they agreed to perform Bear’s surgery for much less than the original quoted price.

“Saving Bear’s life was a team effort and College Village Animal Clinic rose to the occasion when our case manager called them that Friday afternoon,” said RedRover Relief Program Manager Esperanza Zuniga. “Thanks to their compassionate, skilled staff, Bear is alive and well and back home with her loved ones.”

Today, Bear is recovering well and College Village Animal Clinic continues to help animals in need.

Another RedRover Relief grant recipient said, “The veterinarians at College Animal Clinic did a fantastic job and deserve some kind of reward for their desire to help all animals. After all, if it wasn’t for RedRover and College Village Animal Clinic we wouldn’t have our pet this day. Again, thank you!”

“The doctors and staff at College Village Animal Clinic wish to thank RedRover for this special award,” said Rebecca K. Metheny, LVT and Practice Manager of College Village Animal Clinic. “We are honored to have partnered with RedRover, since their mission aligns with ours. We are proud to have been able to help these pets receive the medical treatment that they needed and appreciate the opportunity to be part of RedRover’s lifesaving efforts!”

RedRover has presented College Village Animal Clinic with a recognition plaque to honor their commitment to caring for animals in crisis.
