SANTA BARBARA, CA (May 8, 2009) – Today volunteers with Sacramento-based United Animal Nations (UAN) began caring for hundreds of pets being displaced by the Jesusita Fire.
 
Volunteers with UAN’s Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) are caring for hundreds of animals who, with their owners, were forced from their homes by a massive wildfire.

“Our EARS volunteers are ready, willing and able to come to Santa Barbara at a moment’s notice to help the animals in harm’s way and provide peace of mind to their families,” said UAN Emergency Service Manager Janell Matthies, who is leading the EARS team in Santa Barbara. “We hope to provide some relief to the amazing Santa Barbara Humane Society staff and volunteers, who have been working non-stop to care for the animals since this crisis began.”
