Madison, New Jersey (June 14, 2019) – RedRover is on the ground June 15 – 23 to help St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center provide daily care and comfort to dogs removed from an emergency situation. These Parson Russell terriers were rescued from Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

The Morris County OEM has set up emergency housing pods with air conditioning and lighting on St. Hubert’s ground to provide additional space for the influx of dogs. RedRover sent 19 RedRover Responder trained volunteers for nine days to help care for the animals. The RedRover Responders volunteers are traveling from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Vermont, Maryland, Delaware, Alabama and Ontario, Canada to assist during this crisis.

“We are eager to help St. Hubert’s care for these poor pups,” said RedRover Director of Field Services, Beth Gammie.” Some are suffering from skin infections and parasites, and others may soon give birth. RedRover Responders are committed to giving love and attention to these animals who are in such desperate need so that they can soon thrive and find their forever homes.”

Distinguished by their red shirts, RedRover Responders volunteers are specially trained to care for and shelter large numbers of animals after they have been rescued from cruelty and neglect cases or natural disasters. The volunteers provide a skilled and compassionate workforce which enables a jurisdiction to address animal cruelty and neglect in their community.

With more than 4,000 trained volunteers in the United States and Canada, RedRover can deploy its volunteers quickly when communities become overburdened by a crisis involving large numbers of animals. In its 31-year history, RedRover has responded to more than 200 natural disasters and other crises around the country including the Hurricanes Michael, Irma, Maria and Harvey, Superstorm Sandy and many more.
