Houston, Texas (June 25, 2021)  – Homeless animals in need will get their chance at finding forever homes thanks to a team effort between Houston PetSet and RedRover, a national non-profit. More than 80 cats and dogs will board the Houston PetSet bus Friday morning for a one-way ride to receiving groups in the Midwest, the organizations announced today. It’s the fourteenth transport the organization has facilitated since the beginning of the year.

RedRover, based in Sacramento, California, is funding the trip with a $6,000 grant. Thursday, RedRover leaders toured the “corridor of cruelty” in north Harris

County where the streets are overrun with stray and suffering animals. “It’s important that national organizations like RedRover visit Houston to see the homeless animals firsthand,” said Houston PetSet co-president Tena Lundquist Faust. “We’re extremely thankful for their generous support to help find these wonderful pets forever homes and reduce the number of homeless animals.”

RedRover’s Field Services and Outreach Coordinator, Devon Krusko said, “We’re thrilled to help fund Houston PetSet’s effort to transport homeless dogs and cats to the Midwest where they can find their loving, forever homes. Being on the ground seeing the incredible efforts of so many partners to help make this transport possible is truly heartening.”

Officials from both Houston PetSet and RedRover will be onhand Friday morning for a formal check presentation covering the transport. The homeless cats and dogs are being transported to the organization’s adoption partners, Animal Humane Society and Angel of Hope Rescue in Minnesota.
