Picture this: you walk into an elementary school’s art show and are surrounded by beautiful artwork – most of which features animals. A gallery atmosphere with collaborative installations from each classroom, the bright colors inspired by kindness and the intention of the teachers behind the art show jump straight off the walls. Each teacher set out to promote kindness and encourage their students to be kind to each other and animals: this is just one more example of how teachers at Northlake Elementary school are showing kindness. It’s no coincidence that the teachers who chose animal-themed art also receive Kind News™ magazine, RedRover’s children’s publication that inspires kids to be kind to animals and people. I’m inclined to think it’s because everything these teachers do for their students intentionally includes positive learning experiences and thoughtful discussions about compassion. Experiences like showing beautiful pictures of animals that the students themselves have created, and experiences like choosing to bring Kind News magazine to students five times a year because it helps with reading development and includes inspiring stories of kids helping animals and people.Do you know a creative elementary school educator or youth group leader who would like to promote kindness with Kind News magazine? Nominate them at KindNews.org/nominate.
