“My cat was a feral female and pregnant. I found homes for all of her kittens and brought her in; she became my constant companion and an indoor cat. It took me some time to befriend her. I did so through her kittens. We’ve had a journey together and built a relationship through trust. and compassion. She is loved by my entire family. My daughters call her their little sister. She greets everyone when they come to visit. She is always with me and by my side. I consider her presence a gift in my life.”
For all the love and effort Barbara had made helping Mama Cat become a comfy, spoiled housecat, she wasn’t going to give up on her when she needed emergency dental care. It had gotten so bad that she had an exposed abscess on her cheek, and her pain was too great to eat. But for a senior citizen on a fixed income, getting Mama Cat the treatment she needed as soon as possible was more than Barbara could afford.
A friend to the feral felines, now Barbara needed a friend of her own to help Mama Cat live the life she truly deserved. Your recurring support as a FurEver Friend is there for families like Barbara and Mama Cat when they need lifesaving care. When Barbara learned about the RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant program, she applied right away so that Mama Cat wouldn’t have to wait any longer in pain.
Barbara had already done the work of finding another veterinarian who could do the dental surgery for half the price she was previously quoted, and she was applying to every opportunity for help that she could find online. While she waited for a response, she made sure Mama Cat knew just how loved she was and that Barbara was doing everything she could to find help. Aside from the amount of money of her own she could contribute, all Barbara had left to do was wait for good news – and give Mama Cat extra lovin’, of course.
It had only been a matter of weeks since Barbara realized how bad Mama Cat’s teeth had become, and something must be done urgently about them, when she got the good news: she had been approved for an Urgent Care grant. With the more affordable veterinarian, her own contribution, and the grant, she was ready to pay for the emergency dental care. Mama Cat, despite her feral beginnings, was the perfect patient and recovered from her treatment well. Barbara was amazed at her transformation, and grateful for the help in making it possible.
“Mama Cat has fully recovered! She is back to her normal self. Full of love!
“This had started as a HOPELESS situation. I thought I was going to have to put her down, all because of a few bad teeth that were seriously infected. The concern and compassion that were shown in my situation were truly amazing. Mama Cat and I would love to extend our gratitude and love to all of you who made this happen. Your organization literally saved my beloved pet’s life.”
Saving lives – that’s what a FurEver Friend does best. Thank you for your recurring support of RedRover! Because of you, families like Barbara and Mama Cat can always get the help they need.
