In December of 2025, the RedRover Responders program hit a milestone – our 300th deployment – when we deployed to assist Humane World for Animals, formerly the Humane Society of the United States, to care for dogs rescued from a suspected dogfighting operation.
It was fitting that this one was a milestone. Humane World for Animals is one of our longest-term partners, and one we have worked side-by-side with more than any other organization. In fact, my very first deployment with RedRover (as a volunteer) was working with Humane World for Animals.
We took care of 82 dogs and puppies, and as always, it was a privilege to be there to help unload the dogs from their rescue transport. Some tails were wagging, some dogs were hunkered down and nervous, but in the six days we were there, we saw great progress as the dogs began to feel more comfortable and used to their new surroundings.
Our volunteers gave them all tender, loving care. These dogs and pups had seen the worst of humanity; our volunteer team, taking care of them, showed them the best. It was wonderful to work with some of our long-term volunteers – it always feels like home when the volunteers show up, and friendships are renewed. We also had some brand-new volunteers, and that is fantastic as well – to welcome in new folks and watch them light up as they dig into the work and see the dogs start to feel better and better.
Between the wonderful partners we work with, the animals we care for, and the difference we make, and hanging out with the best volunteers in the world, here’s to another 300!
