We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with KONG will continue for 2025! For each Safe Housing grant awarded to a domestic violence (DV) or homeless shelter, KONG is donating a box of special dog and cat toys and treats. These boxes are such a welcomed addition for DV survivors, the unhoused, and their pets. In a time of crisis, having their beloved pet by their side can make all the difference in the world, for both of their healing processes. Knowing that their pet has a special toy to keep them happy and busy helps to ease stress for everyone in a new environment.
Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) Shelter Advocate/Pet Project Coordinator Brenda Sarmiento said, “Thanks to the generous donation from Kong Co., our clients who are survivors of domestic violence and their pets received invaluable support that allowed them to feel more comfortable and secure in their new environment. The toys and treats were included in the welcome package, and I had the privilege of witnessing the joy of the pets, with many wagging tails of happiness. I am deeply grateful to Kong Co. for making this possible and for helping us empower and support our clients and their loyal furry companions.”
RedRover’s Safe Housing grants enable domestic violence and homeless shelters to create pet-friendly programs, allowing more survivors and the unhoused to seek safety with their beloved pets.
