Creating connections and building relationships is crucial in helping RedRover further our mission – to bring animals out of crisis and strengthen the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering, disaster-relief services, financial assistance, and education. By building community, attending and exhibiting at conferences, we’re able to meet new people and organizations from around the world who are doing exceptional work for people and animals. We are also able to share our programs and brainstorm opportunities for collaboration. Cultivating these connections can help us increase our network of resources and expand our reach of services for people and pets in crisis.
This year we have been to the Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Care Expo, the Prairie States Animal Welfare Conference, and the American Veterinary Medical Association Convention. With much of our work focused on providing care and resources for pets in crisis, tabling at animal-centered conferences has provided many benefits. We’ve been able to meet and learn from conference attendees from every facet of the animal welfare field, including animal shelter directors, animal care and control officers, kennel staff, veterinarians and other veterinary professionals, and other animal nonprofit leaders and operations staff.
We gained attention during Expo by the release of our new t-shirts that included our highest-voted social media slogan, “Easily distracted by animals.” The shirt was a HIT and we had folks crowded around the booth to snag their t-shirt and talk about how RedRover helps animals! As we had a limited supply, we made sure everyone had the opportunity to grab the Expo-limited shirt by creating an online campaign so that attendees could purchase a shirt after the conference ended.
At the end of July we’ll be heading out to Washington, D.C. for the National Organization for Victim Advocacy’s 50th Annual Training Event, where RedRover will be tabling and our President and CEO, Katie Campbell, will be presenting. We’ll be bringing back t-shirts again, with the ever popular slogan, “Pets are Family.” Follow our newsletter to keep an eye out for our online campaign, where we will have these shirts available for purchase after the conference concludes!
