In December, RedRover Responders volunteers headed to Adams County, Ohio, with the Humane Society of the United States, to care for animals who were rescued from a suspected neglect situation. Thirty volunteers made time in their busy holiday schedules to help with the daily care of more than 160 rescued dogs and cats. While these volunteers could have been spending their December wrapping presents and sipping hot chocolate by the fire, they were instead cleaning cages and socializing the animals.
But our RedRover Responders volunteers didn’t stop there. After RedRover’s deployment ended, our volunteers continued to work hard on behalf of the animals. Many volunteers had connections with rescue groups or animal shelters, and these groups became placement partners for the animals. One volunteer went back to Ohio and spent her New Year’s Eve caring for the remaining dogs and cats. For a few other volunteers, certain animals made such an impact on their hearts that they decided to adopt them. It is because of our compassionate and generous RedRover Responders volunteers going above and beyond that we are able to give animals like these a new life.
