Emily and her family were going through a devastating time. They had lost two of their beloved older pets to cancer within one week. The family was still mourning these losses when, less than one week later, their cat Tater was diagnosed with large bladder stones – which could lead to a life-threatening urinary blockage.
Tater was adopted from a high-kill shelter and had grown very close to Emily and her family, and especially Emily’s young daughter. The thought of losing another pet was unbearable.
Although their finances were drained from back-to-back veterinary emergencies from their previous pets, Emily was determined to get Tater the treatment he needed.
She applied online for a RedRover Relief grant for financial assistance and, thanks to a generous donation from a RedRover On-Call Angel, we were able to help Tater get in for surgery the next day. When we reached out to Emily to tell her Tater could now get his surgery, she told us, “Thank you so much, we are so very grateful. He is such an important family member!” Tater’s surgery was successful and he is now healthy and happy back at home with his family.
