Ever wonder what life is like at RedRover? We interviewed Esperanza Zuniga, RedRover Relief program manager on her insights on hope, what it means to make a difference, and the three pet safety tips every responsible pet parent should follow!
Q. Tell us something special about yourself!
My name (Esperanza) means hope. Throughout childhood, I thought I had the strangest name but now I really appreciate the meaning.
Q. Can you share a special story that shows why you love to make a difference?
Working with the RedRover Relief program, I have been able to be a part of many lifesaving happy endings for pets. With RedRover’s domestic violence programs, the impact is two-fold because we can save human and animals lives by keeping families together.
Last year, a woman reached out to us for help with her pet because of a domestic violence situation. A man who had been stalking her for months threatened to kill her but she refused to leave home without her dog. With the help of a domestic violence agency and a Safe Escape grant from RedRover, the woman was able to find safety for herself and her dog long enough for charges to be pressed against her stalker. She later wrote us a thank you letter expressing her gratitude for our help and said she might not have made it through that situation without our support. I feel so fortunate to be in a position where I can help people and pets.
Q. Do you have any furry family members?
Yes! I am the proud mom of three rescued dogs and three rabbits. They inspire me every day and keep me on my toes!
Q. What are your 3 most important pet safety tips for new pet owners?
Q. What other things do you like to do outside the office?
I enjoy going to the beach, hiking, gardening and above all else spending time with loved ones (of course that includes my furry family members)!
