“In the face of crisis, Pumpkin got his life-saving treatment.”
Six-month-old kitten Pumpkin seemed to be growing bigger every day, but still had his kitten energy, keeping mom Jennifer and her three children smiling every day as the family worked through healing from a difficult divorce.
When Pumpkin went to the veterinarian for his neuter surgery, the veterinary team noticed that he had a fever. Two weeks passed, and Pumpkin still wasn’t feeling better. When they went back to the veterinarian for further testing, Jennifer was shocked when Pumpkin was diagnosed with feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a devastating illness that is nearly always fatal if not treated with a specialized medication.
Knowing that her family couldn’t bear to lose Pumpkin, Jennifer was able to pay for the first month of his treatment. The family breathed a huge sigh of relief as Pumpkin began responding well to his initial doses of treatment, and Jennifer got to work figuring out what resources could help the family pay for his next round of medication. After an internet search for financial assistance led her to the RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant, Jennifer submitted an application for Pumpkin, helping to fund his next round of lifesaving medication.
After weeks of treatment, Pumpkin made an incredible recovery. Back to his old self, he could get back to the hard work of being a growing kitten!
