“Little Caesar is back to pain-free playtime!”
Since she rescued him from a parking lot the year before, Little Caesar was the catalyst that got Elizabeth and her son outside every day. Together, the three of them cherished their daily walks to the park for fresh air, exercise, and playtime.
One day, Little Caesar ended up with a prickly foxtail stuck in his front right paw after playing outside. The paw swelled and filled with pus, leaving him barely able to walk. Elizabeth took him to the vet, and Little Caesar was given antibiotics and a drain was put in to help the pus out of his paw.
Despite his earlier treatments, Little Caesar’s paw remained swollen and tender. After a second round of antibiotics was unsuccessful, their veterinarian told Elizabeth that he would need surgery to locate and remove the foxtail in his paw. Elizabeth’s budget had already been stretched thin with Little Caesar’s repeated vet visits, but knew that forgoing surgery wasn’t an option.
After Elizabeth found the RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant, Little Caesar was approved for a grant and was able to have his surgery. After a long healing journey, Elizabeth finally noticed the swelling in his paw had begun to improve.
