Meet Bentley

“Bentley helped his mom heal from domestic violence, then he needed a helping hand of his own.”

Six-year-old Yorkshire terrier Bentley had been with his mom, Sandra*, for nearly his entire life – she had gotten him to help her heal from domestic abuse, and he had been her closest family ever since.

One day, Sandra noticed that Bentley wasn’t acting like himself, and she took him to the veterinarian. There, he was diagnosed with an infection in his liver. Sandra was stumped as to how the infection happened, but knew that she needed to make sure Bentley got the care he needed. The veterinarian let Sandra know that Bentley would need a procedure to clear the fluid from his liver, antibiotics, and a short stay at the veterinary hospital to make sure he healed properly.

Sandra knew that Bentley’s care would cost more than she could afford, so she began researching resources for Bentley’s upcoming procedure. After she was approved for a RedRover Relief Urgent Care grant, Bentley had his surgery. While Bentley didn’t enjoy the cone he had to wear during his recovery, he felt better after many cuddles from Sandra. When he was given the thumbs-up from the veterinarian to take off his recovery cone, Sandra took him to get a fresh groom to celebrate.
