A Saturday in October, I had the privilege of being invited to represent RedRover at the Sacramento SPCA (SSPCA) Gala, “The Great Catsby.” We were thrilled to be a sponsor of this sharp event, with everyone looking fantastic in 1920’s gear: pinstriped suits, fedoras, and big feathers galore.
The best part wasn’t the theme or the costumes; it was the unified love for animals we all shared. I spent the night connecting with people from all kinds of backgrounds – SSPCA staff, board members, community members, donors, advocates, and dedicated volunteers – and everyone shared the same clear goal: protecting the bond between pets and the people who love them.
I spoke with many guests about RedRover’s programs, but our core message that Pets Are Family, and that families deserve to stay whole, really hit home. The wonderful people I met resonated with the importance of our RedRover Relief work regarding our Safe Escape grants that board survivors’ pets while they are in shelter, and our Urgent Care grants that help pay for emergency veterinary care.
The gala was a powerful reminder that when it comes to protecting the human-animal bond, our local Sacramento community is strong and aligned. It was a true honor to celebrate the vital, lifesaving work of the SSPCA, and I left the night feeling even more driven to push our mission forward.
