Stacey was surprised when she found a friendly large dog with big brown spots roaming around her neighborhood. With no collar, tags or owner in sight, Stacey begin calling the pup “Petey,” but later realized Petey was a female! To keep her safe and sound, Stacey decided to give the Petey a life of safety and comfort in her own home.
Stacey took Petey to the veterinarian for an exam and learned that Petey was heartworm positive. The treatment would cost hundreds of dollars more than Stacey and her family could afford.
Determined to get Petey the care she needed, Stacey reached out to family and friends and applied for a RedRover Relief grant. With the help of one of RedRover’s On-Call Angels, Sheri, we were quickly able to approve a grant so Petey’s treatment could get started. Stacey told RedRover, “Thank you so much for helping Petey with her treatment costs. You made a big difference for me as I was trying to do the right thing for this special dog! Petey’s treatment has started and she is already happier and healthier.” We’re happy to report that Petey, the dog with big spots and a big heart, is on the road to recovery!
