How to help/Donations needed

  • Marin Civic Center has been declared an evacuation center. If you have food, clothing, small toys or extra pet food, please bring them to the Civic Center second building in the back. If you can, consolidate neighborhood donations into a single vehicle, as keeping as much traffic off the road as possible would be for the best.

NUNS FIRE, SONOMA COUNTY

Resources for pet owners

From Sonoma County Animal Services:

Sonoma County Animal Services is coordinating all animal rescue efforts in the county.  We are contracted by the City of Santa Rosa and the Town of Windsor and are coordinating services with their emergency services.

The shelter has been without power and phones since the fire started on Sunday morning.  We now have a generator providing most of our power needs.  Phones that were being redirected are now being restored to the shelter.

Our website is being updated and we are trying to coordinate all lost and found animals through the County website: theanimalshelter.org

We are operating the shelter and keeping it open 24 hours a day.  From 7pm to 7am services are more limited but we are maintaining veterinary services, field support and resident support for lost, stray and injured animals.

The CVMA has been activated and is on site coordinating and providing veterinary services for large animals in the county.

Donations of animal food and supplies are being accepted at the shelter for redistribution to those affected by the fires.  We are also accepting financial donations through our various donation funds.

We are responding to hundreds of requests for support and services and my staff are working hard to address all requests and needs as quickly as possible.  We have been offered many resources and other agency assistance and are working as quickly as possible to accept and or prioritize needs for the most efficient use of these offers.
