RedRover’s Seventh Deployment in Two Months
San Marcos, Texas (November 19, 2018) – RedRover is on the ground November 19 – 23 to help San Marcos Animal Services provide daily care and comfort for 176 cats and dogs seized from a nonprofit organization by Hays County authorities, based on allegations of neglect.
A Hays County Judge later found these allegations proved and ordered ownership of the animals transferred to the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter where they can eventually be adopted.
RedRover has sent six RedRover Responders volunteers to help care for these animals. The RedRover Responders volunteers traveled from Texas, Louisiana and Canada to assist with this case.
“RedRover Responders are committed to giving comfort so that these traumatized animals can recover before finding their ‘furever’ homes,” said RedRover Director of Field Services, Beth Gammie.
Distinguished by their red shirts, RedRover Responders volunteers are a compassionate workforce specially trained to care for and shelter large numbers of animals after they have been rescued from cruelty and neglect cases or natural disasters.
With more than 4,000 trained volunteers in the United States and Canada, RedRover can deploy its volunteers quickly when communities become overburdened by a crisis involving large numbers of animals. In its 31-year history, RedRover has responded to 192 natural disasters and other crisis situations across the country, including Hurricanes Harvey, Katrina and Ike, the San Marcos floods and, sadly, many cruelty and neglect cases.
