In December, RedRover Responders volunteers headed to Adams County, Ohio, with the Humane Society of the United States, to care for animals who were rescued from a suspected neglect situation. Thirty volunteers made time in their busy holiday schedules to help with the daily care of more than 160 rescued dogs and cats.

Of the many dangers pets face in violent homes, veterinary neglect is a common yet rarely highlighted reality. Abusers often maintain strict control over the household budget and won't allow their victims to spend money on either routine or emergency veterinary care. As a result, many of the animals we help to board through our Safe Escape grant program are in need of veterinary care.

RedRover’s new E-Books for Empathy will launch in April 2016! The first RedRover Book in the app, The Restricted Adventures of Raja, comes with a game called Animal Watch, designed to help kids learn animal behavior. The e-book app will be available for download on tablet devices next month!

Lauren got attached to Kizzy the pit bull long before Kizzy became a part of Lauren’s family. Kizzy originally belonged to Lauren’s neighbor, who didn't take very good care of her. Five months earlier, Kizzy had escaped from her neighbor’s yard and was hit by a car, but Kizzy never received treatment. After months of pleading, Lauren finally convinced her neighbor to allow her to adopt Kizzy, and the first thing she did was take her to the vet.

Shelly welcomed Tyson into her family’s home last spring, only a few months after their beloved mastiff had passed away from old age. Shelly knew Tyson was meant to be a member of their family and he instantly bonded with their other dog.

Students in Sacramento, California, changed their minds about animals after the RedRover Readers program came to their school. “The RedRover stories made me feel happy and excited. I used to be afraid of dogs but RedRover dog books have made me not be afraid." - Paloma, age 8.

So far this year, you’ve helped more than 1,200 animals by supporting the RedRover Responders program. Animals who were neglected, malnourished, deprived of basic care because of animal cruelty, or separated from their families because of natural disasters. These animals got a second chance at a new journey and a chance at happiness – because of you.
